Worship Through Music
Music has always been a vital part of worship of the United Methodist Church. Methodists are "a singing people", and St Paul is no exception. On page vii in the Methodist Hymnal, John Wesley gives seven directions for singing, Select Hymns 1761. His brother Charles penned over 9,000 hymns and poems, many of which are included in the Methodist Hymnal.
At St Paul United Methodist Church, music is cornerstone of weekly worship. The music program at St Paul is under the direction of Dr. Tim Gale. Laura Gale is the director of the children's music program. Practice is Wednesday night beginning at 5:30 for adult handbells. Children's choir and adult choir practice begins at 6:00. Everyone is welcome to be a part of St Paul's music program.
The entire month of August camp meeting style services are conducted where the congregation selects favorite hymns, and the choir features a lively gospel or spiritual song. And one of the highlights of the year is the Christmas cantata, always a moving music experience with choir and orchestra.
